The Foggy Mirror

While I persist and assist and live and love

She reaps my wheat and smiles

I work and learn and strive to learn

She threatens over miles

I’ll never live up to her loss

Mine aren’t enough although

Too much for me to bear with no one

In my home to hold.

One tiny thing, one minor hail

I hadn’t asked for much

Just everything and nothing that

I hadn’t dealt myself.

I wonder still if this bridge holds

Strong, long enough to cross

Or will it burn, the fluid hope of fire

Realness lost.
